Myself, Miriam and Melonie recently photographed one of our banner weddings. Kristin and Patrick were married last Saturday in a wedding of pure elegance.

The 16 foot ice bar carved from a single block of ice. Guests strolled up to the bar and ordered their drinks on this work of art. The last time this ice bar was created by the artist was for President Carter. But don’t set your drink on it, it will end up on your new black leather shoes that you just bought to photograph wedd……….nevermind.

The couple’s initials were carved into the ice bar in gold

The ice bar was delivered with eight champagne chillers, four on each side

Another functional ice sculpture. These works of art somehow lasted all night.

That’ll do pig………….that’ll do.

My second and third photographers for this wedding, photojournalists Miriam and Melonie. Their help was an absolute must at this challenging wedding. I could not have done half of what we did without them.

Miriam’s Saved Wedding

Miriam had her heart set on being married under a six hundred year old tree at Eden Gardens, but an enormous storm was scheduled to hit the day of her wedding. Her family pulled together and gave Miriam the wedding of her dreams. The day of her wedding, they found a hotel called the Palm Resort in Destin that had just been finished being built, and booked the ballroom. They booked the venue the day of the wedding!

The ladies ready themselves for the wedding while the forecast warns of an approaching storm.

We had the pleasure of working with Precious Memories Video Productions.

Miriam’s dad had never danced before (not even a slow dance) so Miriam sacrificed her father-daughter dance for her mom so her mom could have his first dance. If I was a softy, and I’m not saying I am, I would have cried….but I didn’t.

An unexpected dip by Madeline’s dad.

A sort of father-daughter dance with Madeline (the bell ringer) and her dad.

Miriam’s father stuns the crowd by grabbing the microphone and belting out a great country song.

This Image is worth a thousand words

I love this image and the story that goes with it. This is Miriam, her grandparents, and her father on Miriam’s rehearsal at Eden Gardens. Miriam’s father is pointing at me, and telling everyone in the photo to look into the camera and smile. Miriam is telling her dad “don’t look at him, he’s not a looking person”. What she was telling her dad in essence, is that she wants her photographer to catch reality during her wedding, not just portraits. Well done Miriam, you knew the kind of images you wanted from your wedding day, and you did your homework to get the photographer with the style you wanted.
Stay tuned to find out why Miriam’s wedding didn’t take place where this photo was taken at all.

TOTALLY UNSCRIPTED…

I grow weary of posts on this blog that go something like this – “here’s this wedding, here’s some photos, here’s to the couple”. so I decided to spice things up a bit……take some risks…….put it out there and see what happens. I’ve decided to only show real moments from this wedding. No posed photos, no pretty little detail shots, just real moments. This is the wedding of Dr. Adrien and Rebecca Attkison, and these are unscripted moments from their wedding. This is what wedding photojournalism is about. (Was that a bit dramatic?)

Rainy Day Bridals With Brook

We refused to let the rain stop us yesterday morning. Myself, Brook, and her family spent the morning on the front porch. I think this proves you can shoot anyhwere and still get beautiful images.
